Six Reasons Why You Should Consider Using Squarespace to Create Your Website
Over the last decade or so, I’ve worked with several platforms to design websites for myself and my clients.
While each platform has its pros and cons (you can find a thorough comparison of Squarespace and Wordpress here), there is one platform in particular that I find suits so many different needs, budgets and experience levels.
As the title of this post suggests, that platform is Squarespace.
While I primarily work with Shopfiy, Wordpress and Squarespace to design client sites, Squarespace is hands down my favorite to work with.
If you’re going the DIY route with your website, here are a few reasons why you should seriously consider using my favorite platform (and read to the end to grab a special free offer!):
It Suits a Variety of Needs
Are you a business owner? A blogger? Both? Squarespace provides you with everything you need to run an online store, a blog, a service-based business or anything else in between. Adding blog posts, services or inventory to your shop is a seamless, fool-proof process once you get comfortable with the backend of Squarespace. If you’re a course creator, you can even host your courses right on Squarespace without having to deal with third-party platforms!
Plus, you can easily manage your website from your phone by downloading their apps, so you can publish new blog posts or add new items to your store on the go if need be.
It’s Perfect for the Not-So-Tech-Savvy
Have you ever tried working with another platform and thought “How the HECK am I supposed to figure all of this out?!”
It can be so frustrating — not to mention, time consuming — to learn how to DIY your website, especially if you’re not super tech-savvy. Squarespace, however, is so user-friendly that you can create a modern, professional-looking website in a relatively short amount of time…regardless of your experience level with this type of technology.
If you want something that is going to be easy to navigate, easy to learn, and easy to manage, Squarespace is the perfect platform for you.
They Have a Large Selection of Modern, Professional Templates
When you create your website with Squarespace you’re able to choose from a large library of free templates. The template you choose will depend on your needs and style preferences. Different templates have different customization features and functionalities, so it’s important to understand that what might be available for one template family, might not be available for another.
For these reasons I always recommend one of the templates in the Brine family. The Brine family templates give you the most flexibility and control compared to other template families, regardless of the purpose of your website.
After you choose your template, you’ll then use the drag and drop content blocks to customize your site and build your layout. There is a major misconception that you are significantly limited with customizations on Squarespace — however — if you select a Brine family template and take some time to explore the different options within the content blocks, you can actually customize a significant amount of your site without any coding!
It Provides Everything You Need
You can host your Squarespace subscription, domain registration and email marketing all in one, convenient place! There’s no need to install and pay for additional plug-ins, frameworks or themes here. You can certainly connect domain names from other third-party sites or choose a different e-mail marketing platform to integrate with Squarespace, but if you want the convenience of handling all your billing on one platform, this is a great feature!
Their Customer Service is Top Notch
If you run into any issues before, during or after creating your website, you can reach out to the Squarespace support team. Their team of advisors are reliable, quick and truly unlike any other customer support I’ve worked with before. You can find out more information and get in touch with an advisor here.
There’s No Coding Required
Since you can do so much with their existing templates and customization features, you don’t need to know code to make your website unique on Squarespace. Simply install your template, add your desired pages, and use the content blocks to build your layout. From here, you’ll want to use Site Styles to customize the overall look and feel of your design.
